Building/Driveway/Zoning Permits

A zoning permit and a building permit are required for any building over 150 square feet.

I Want to Build a New House

The first step in any building project is to complete a Zoning Permit Application.  The application can be obtained from the town clerk or the Trempealeau County Department of Land Management.

Return the completed application to the town clerk for review and signature by a town official.  All new house applications must be approved at a town board meeting.  These meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month.  Please contact the town clerk to be put on the agenda.

After the application has been approved by the town board the application should be mailed or hand delivered to the Department of Land Management, P.O. Box 67, 36245 Main Street, Whitehall, WI 54773. There is a fee involved so please call the Department of Land Management (715) 538-2311 (ext. 223) before sending in your application.
