Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge

Star Party Program | Saturday October 5th | 6:45 – 10:00 pm Join the La Crosse Area Astronomical Society (LCAAS) for a stargazing event at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. LCAAS members will provide a variety of telescopes for public use, offering a chance to observe some of the best solar system and deep sky objects. Arrive early to catch the Moon and Venus in the western twilight just after sunset. Club members will guide you through the night sky, pointing out constellations, stars, and planets like Saturn rising in the southeast. Don’t miss the chance to view the Andromeda Galaxy and Cassiopeia as they brighten the autumn skies.

Family Nature Walk | Saturday October 12th | 10:00 am
Happy Dancing Turtle is partnering with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to offer Family Nature Walks at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. Enjoy an hour of family-friendly fun exploring nature and learning about the seasonal changes in plants and wildlife. All ages are welcome!

Waterfowl Fall Migration Celebration | Saturday November 2nd | 9:00 — 11:00 am Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge is a rest stop to a diverse selection of waterfowl: ducks, geese, and swans! Meet the refuge staff members and volunteers at the observation deck as they assist with bird identification and answer related questions. Visitors can see migrating birds that are coming through the Refuge on their migration south to their wintering habitats. Spotting scopes, binoculars, and bird identification guides are available for participants. Come and join us to observe different species of ducks and other birds as they spread their wings south!

2024 Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge Photo Contest The Friends of Trempealeau will be hosting their annual photo contest to recognize nature photographers and showcase the beauty of the refuge. The contest runs the length of the calendar year, multiple categories available. Entry deadline: December 1, 2024.

must access the refuge through Marshland Access Road
