Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge – Fall Events
Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge invites you to enjoy the beauty of fall by joining in on one of these events.
Family Nature Walk
Join Nora & Delaney from Happy Dancing Turtle for a guided nature walk, in partnership with the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, October 10th at 10am! Meet other nature-loving families & individuals as we take a leisurely hour(ish) walk. We’ll observe the many signs of fall, watch for migrating birds, learn some fun facts, & take in the fall colors at the Refuge! Meeting location is dependent on weather conditions, & phenology. Find Your Calm Trail
Celebrate National Wildlife Refuge Week with us! National Wildlife Refuge Week is celebrated to honor the National Wildlife Refuge System. Join us in a self-guided hike as you walk along Pine Creek Dike following the prompted signs to help you relax and connect with nature. The Find Your Calm Trail activity will let the sounds and sights of nature guide you as you appreciate the landscape around you.
When: Saturday October 10 – Saturday October 17
Where: Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge, Pine Creek Dike
*Visitors are welcome to enjoy the Find Your Calm Trail from sunrise to sunset.
Be a B.A.R.K. Ranger!
Swear a pledge with your furry friend and join this ‘pawsome’ group. Learn the B.A.R.K. principles so you and your pet can have a safe and fun visit, earning a certificate and a bandana for your pet! B.A.R.K. stands for: Bag your pet’s waste. | Always leash your pet. | Respect wildlife. | Know where you can go

Refuge Relay Challenge
The Refuge Relay Continues! 2026 is America’s 250th anniversary! In honor of this milestone, Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge and the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge are inviting visitors to participate in the Refuge Relay Challenge. This special event encourages everyone to explore locations where you can enjoy unique recreation and wildlife watching opportunities! You can earn a FREE iron-on patch that commemorates America’s 250th Anniversary by visiting three of 15 locations.
*Visitors are welcome to stop in by the office during regular office hours, and a Ranger will happily assist them.
*United States Armed Forces Veterans eligible for a free patch just by visiting.
